MiX/OS — My computer science project

ok, still in pen and paper stages… please keep in mind, anything posted on this subject is not final, and is merely a set of goals….

well heres what we’ve decided on the file layout

This layout is a template for a standard system layout. Some folders have been left out. i.e. indivual user folders, application folders, other server folders. Also, please keep in mind that some or all folders shown in the server directory may not be on all systems. They are provided as an example of were to put those types of servers.ah, and we haven’t even finished the filesystem yet…

Game Update

pretty much done the basic world layout idea, i’m down to actually mapping it out so i can get a better picture…. My roomate knows some really good artists who are helping me to reach my vision, upgrading from a 2d world to a 3d one… *good thing we just started on the basic character and world map idea sketches, still early enough to make that decision* i plan on spending a good 6-8 months just laying out the environment, then i’ll start to plant in some characters, and spend another 4 months debugging the map for glitches. at least thats the plan. oh, don’t worry, i’ll be developing a story and a plot line at the same time. a lot has changed since my initial idea, i through a lot of shit out, added a lotta shit. anyway, we’ll see how it works out. it doesn’t resemble my initial intro too much anymore, but heh, i like this new one better.

oh, and just so you don’t think this game *wich is still yet as untitled* will change half a million times, we’ve put a lock on world ideas, and now have entered the story planning phase. the world will not change in this game ever again… maybe graphics, but the general layout is locked down.

Charter

well, i’ve been talking to charter communications about the whole internet deal… it appears i can get myself a 10M/256K connection for 70 a month…. i’m still waiting to here from pocket inet, maybe they’ll have a better deal… i gotta survive you know, can’t have my internet bill killing me. need lots of bandwidth for downloads and stuff, i’d like at least a 2 MB upstream, but 1MB will do nicely *i’ve got servers yo* I plan having a small cvs server for my project *game and OS, developing MiX/OS, as a computer science project*
